Centre For Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA)​

BU – CDOE has established the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) to oversee and ensure the quality of its online programmes by adhering to regulatory guidelines. CIQA at BU – CDOE establishes quality standards, monitors academic and administrative activities, conducts quality audits, and implements self-evaluative initiatives to drive continuous improvement and maintain high academic and operational quality for online learning experiences. As mandated by UGC-DEB, the CIQA at BU – CDOE is headed by a full-time Director, a senior academician, and is supported by a dedicated team of academic and administrative staff ensuring effective implementation and continuous improvement of quality standards.

Objective of CIQA

The Centre for Internal Quality Assurance at BU – CDOE has the following objectives:

  • To maintain a comprehensive, dynamic internal quality assurance system to ensure that all online higher education programmes are of consistently high quality and are always under continuous improvement plan.
  • To implement robust quality check systems and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for e-tutorials and Electronic/Self -Learning Materials (SLMs) to significantly enhance the learning experience of students.

Functions of CIQA

  • Maintaining Quality in Content and Services: Ensure high-quality academic and support services are delivered to online learners. 
  • Self-Evaluative & Reflective Practices: Conduct regular self-assessment and reflective exercises for continuous quality improvement across systems and processes. 
  • Focus on Key Areas: Identify and monitor critical areas such as course content and Learning Management Systems (LMS) to uphold standards. 
  • Parity with Conventional Programmes: Ensure that online programmes maintain the same academic quality as equivalent to classroom-based Programmes. 
  • Stakeholder Interaction & Feedback: Establish mechanisms to gather inputs from learners, faculty, non-teaching staff, parents, and employers for quality enhancement. 
  • Recommend Quality Enhancements: Propose and follow up on improvements through periodic reviews and action-taken reports. 
  • Workshops & Knowledge Sharing: Organize seminars, workshops, symposiums, and webinars on quality themes and disseminate best practices. 
  • Best Practice Development: Create and share best practices across all functional areas to improve learner experience. 
  • Data Collection & Analytics: Collect, collate, and disseminate accurate, reliable data on programme quality, learner performance, and analytics. 
  • Compliance with Regulations: Ensure Programme Project Reports (PPRs) for each programme comply with UGC-DEB norms and other regulatory guidelines. 
  • Planning & Reporting: Prepare annual quality plans and reports, generating actionable recommendations for the university. 
  • Programme Restructuring: Provide inputs for curriculum restructuring to align with industry needs and improve employability. 
  • Accreditation & Assessment: Act as the nodal unit for accreditation, audits, and liaison with statutory authorities like UGC. 
  • Promote Research & Innovation: Encourage research on learner-centric approaches and systemic quality improvements. 
  • Benchmarking: Benchmark practices against other reputed higher education institutions to remain competitive and relevant. 
  • Annual Reporting: Submit annual CIQA reports to the UGC and statutory authorities as mandated.
