Nitin Chandel is the Head of BNY Mellon Technology in India and has offices in Chennai and Pune. Based out of Pune, Nitin manages and leads the global technology team of close to 5,500 across India. He drives technology transformation, focusing on digitization and infrastructure resiliency. Additionally, he also oversees recruitment and retention of top technology talent.
Prior to this, Chandel was Senior Vice President at Visa for its Developer Platform and led a global team from India. He built out Visa’s India Technology Center in Bengaluru. He has also held several senior technology roles at Microsoft, where he led Bing Ads development teams both in Bengaluru and in the company’s corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington, U.S. His past experience includes the following –
- Led engineering for Visa Developer, a strategic initiative for Visa aimed at opening up access to Visa’s network through APIs
- Architected, designed, and developed big data systems for very large-scale transactional e-commerce systems, dealing with multi terra-bytes of data processing on a daily basis
- Led teams building the full stack for very high scale web applications, including the app stack, API interfaces, backend data and billing systems. ~ 30-40 million transactions per day
- Large, distributed, and scalable systems architecture experience with the ability to look broadly across the technology and business process ecosystem
- Building and transforming teams into high performing, agile, high energy teams which deliver start-up levels of productivity, with the design and quality of a mature product team
- A track record of attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. Ability to manage and motivate large teams and organizations
- Designed and modelled large scale e-commerce systems with hands on experience with the data tier
